Recommended for people with suspected gluten intolerance and celiac disease.

Genetic celiac profile includes:

  • DQ2
  • DQ8

Celiac disease is a genetic disease, meaning it runs in families. People with celiac disease have one or both of the HLA DQ2 and DQ8 genes. Carrying one or both of these genes increases your risk of developing celiac disease. If you have a first-degree family member (parent, sibling or child) that has been diagnosed with celiac disease, and you have the same genotype, your risk of also developing the disease in approximately 40%. A negative genetic test means you will not develop celiac disease and that can be valuable information. The Celiac Disease Foundation recommends first degree family members, especially children, be screened to prevent future unnecessary testing.
