Liver function tests (LFTs) can be a good benchmark to identify the presence of liver disease, measure the extent of liver damage, or help identify a liver disorder. The liver function panel is recommended for patients:
- Showing symptoms of liver or bile system disease (abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, or yellow skin)
- Drinking alcohol excessively
- Taking any medication that can damage the liver
- Diagnosed with liver diseases
- With a family history of liver disease
